As Sarah mentioned, the Concierge Party was today - and I decided to go. This, of course, was a big step for me - but recent upgrades in bandwidth and some newly acquired social skills required testing. I was at the party, off and on, for a good portion of the day after I tended some real life... stuff. Boring stuff.
Instead of boring you with mundane details and amusing conversations that end in, "you had to be there" - pretty elitist - I'll say that it was a lagfest, and it allowed some of the Linden Lab folk to mix with the concierge level customers a bit. On one hand, I tend to agree. It is elitist. But on the other I also have to say that concierge level folks do pay a tad more than most (some a LOT more) and deal with concierge level support a lot. So that level of support, too, might be considered elitist - but I draw the line there. You pay more, you do get more service.
I have a clear conscience. We danced, we talked, we had fun. Some people hunted Leo Linden, others played primtionary with Guy Linden, and still others danced to the tunes of Ethan, Belinda, Dee and Sidewinder (while I was around). The Lindens got ribbed here and there, but there was no animosity. Just people having a good time. Contrary to what some might think, no one talked about Philip Rosedale's upcoming promotion to the board or the hiring of a new CEO.
And honestly - I took the time to thank some of the Lindens for the stuff they've been doing this year. Last year, my opinion of Linden Lab was somewhat lower. This year, they took my criticisms and flushed them. I may not agree with some things, but hey - as Konner reminded me recently, I can be a real bastard (he was being constructive because I have to be a bastard sometimes).
Anyway, here's some pics from the event where I got to act a little crazy for a change:

Nice ships. I did like these and didn't get enough of a look at them.

The top of one of the sims, Mount Olympus. No flying - which I bypassed... ;-)

Guy Linden as a bot in a toga.

Ethan Linden during his house party. Poor guy's client was frozen for a while. 80 people.

The wandering penguin was spotted...

The corporate invasion everyone was worried about.

Rowan Linden was partying and tolerated Yoda in a thong (!)

Belinda Linden partying and mixing the tunes.

Sidewinder Linden between arguments with Isaac Newton and Einstein.

I popped along
The ships in a no fly zone, I could get to them from one sim and got stuck in one. I got stuck because I could no longer fly.
The LL support customer support simulator was funny. Nice to see they don't take themselves too seriously.
The lag was incredible.
I didn't see a single Linden!
OK... The workaround for flight...
Is to be flying when you get there. They can't really fix that without breaking mainland, so its likely to be common knowledge soon. As soon as you land, though, you're grounded. So - if you go somewhere that is no fly, teleport to where you can, get your butt in the air, and then teleport back.
Finding Lindens was particularly easy. Just look for the largest collection of green dots. And honestly, most of them were working really hard for the parties - I wonder if they actually got to enjoy the party at all. I know Sidewinder was pretty busy - and to his credit, the new Havok stuff didn't seem to be the issue with the simulators going down. It was just brute force lag, I think. 80 people on a simulator from all over the world... wow.
I didn't know there was a LL support customer support simulator. I feel robbed! :-)
