Sarah beat me to posting about the 'Voluntarg Age Verification and Parcel Flagging' which does not seem very voluntary - the only thing I will add to her opinions, other than comments on the post, is that if Linden Lab were really interested in dealing with the issue the default setting for everyone in a mature area would be 'restricted'.
Anyway - realizing that they're doing what they do best (releasing ambiguous statements without further explanation), I decided to just do it as I 'needed' to. Voluntarily, at gunpoint so to speak.
The Official entry on this says:
How to flag your parcel as having restricted content
The land must be on a region that is marked Mature (PG regions cannot be marked with Restricted content)
From the menu, go to World > About Land > Options. Under ‘Land Options’, check ‘Restricted Content’. The tooltip should read ‘Your parcel information or content is considered inappropriate for a minor’. Unchecking ‘Restricted Content’ will remove the ‘Restricted’ flag from the parcel.
I looked. No 'Restricted Content' flag. Maybe my client needed updating, so I got the latest release candidate viewer update - which, by the way, has a bunch of empty links. But I got it.
And I still don't see this 'restricted content' flag:
Are they referring to the 'Mature Content' flag? Maybe, but if they were talking about the 'Mature Content' flag - shouldn't it be called the 'Mature Content' flag in their definition? One would think so.
So while there is a lot of questioning and outright dismay on how Linden Lab is handling age verification - on this end, I just can't get it to work with the instructions provided. Forget all the grey area, the documentation is either inaccurate or plain wrong. What's up with that?

New Release, Same Problem
Using 1.18.2.1, there is still no 'restricted content' setting.

If you have Mature content on your parcel, you switch it on, and age-unverifieds are not allowed to set foot on it.

Saying "that"
As usual, verbal laxative strikes again. I think it's safe to assume the Lindens *mean* Mature Content when they *say* Restricted Content. Just like half the mentions of today's mandatory update had it marked as voluntary or optional. And just as the first time I installed it, it failed to overwrite something needed to make the system realize I was using a new version of the viewer.
Coooolio. Just noticed that the Google ad next to this here windder are hawking houses in Linden, MI. Let's move SL to Michigan!!! Yay, Michigan.

I don't think it is safe to assume anything. They need to clarify it, and do it in a public place such as... their own blog.
Dunno about the Google Ads. They usually have weird things.
I think they've jumped the gun again
I've seen no sign of the new parcel setting either. This does seem to have been a slightly premature annoncement, maybe this way they can say they forewarned everyone.
Even if the parcel setting was available who would be using it when verification has only been open to concierge users so far anyway and no pricing information for basic and premium accounts has been announced?

WTF Is up with those Pirates at LL
Yeah this truly shows what a bunch of dumb asses the Lindens really are. They make a big deal about this release all this crap about it on the blog tell you exactly how to enable it & its not there. You would think they make sure their software code is updated before they tell everyone about a change thats not there yet.
Seems like they are too busy acting like Pirates at the lab then updating their software.....
