Yamaha: 'Not The BMF' in Second Life

According to this article, [w:Yamaha] may be hosting a virtual event in Second Life:

...NottheBMF.com – setup by Yamaha UK (they seem to be at the center of a number of things at present) We’re told it’s a virtual trade show, aimed primarily at the dealer network, to showcase Yamaha products. Yamaha themselves confess that it’s has room for improvement, but their attention is rather focused on matters Tenori-On. But plans are afoot to make it a happening thing.

It got us thinking about air miles and carbon footprints and all that stuff, and we thought what a jolly good idea! Take one pavilion in SecondLife, create a load of virtual booths, schedule product demos every 30 mins or so, and invite the public in to see what’s new. I wonder how much it would cost compared to hiring a stand? Now I ain’t saying that I want to forgo my annual trip to sunny California - after all we’re in the depths of winter here at that time, but I could live without some of the other less glamorous locations we have to schlep to. But it really does amaze me why we cant use the technology more intelligently to achieve similar objectives and cut down our travel...

The BMF is the British Music Fair... which is completely unrelated, apparently... aside for the name. Kind of corny to use the BMF that way.... but if anyone hears anything about this Yamaha thing, post a comment. Maybe other people are interested.
