An Attempt To Deal With Advertising Spam Through JIRA

Community attempts to make up the lack of mainland zoning is nothing new; attempt after attempt has been thwarted by the silent dismissal of complaints to [w:Linden Lab].

The time, apparently, is ripe for another attempt - and a different manner of dealing with it. The proposed solution is simple enough: Land listings below 128 m² would not be visible in land search, therefore making them more difficult to be sold. In this way, 16 m² plots are still possible - yet they won't clutter land searches - in fact, this step could very well clear up a lot of junk land in searches - and would encourage people to join small parcels together rather than split parcels to create the advertising farms with extortionist land prices. Linden Lab can only ignore this so long; more and more voices are being added to the request for Linden Lab to take action about this long standing issue.

The Arbor Project is proposing that all land under 128m be removed from in the in-world land search. The will help address the issue of ad farms, whic is affecting thousands of residents and driving many from SL.

This proposal will not affect terriforming of land or the ability to sell or transfer small parcels. It will however dramatically cut back on the ability to market ad farms, will reduce lag, will stop griefers from using land sales for personal advertising, will ultimately help reduce the griefing from some 16m owners, will reduce the number of plots with embedded parcels and help maintain the overall integrity of the mainland.
