Billing Madness Follow Up

When I wrote Linden Lab Billing Madness, I was understandably frustrated - in a way I still am, but I cashed out some Lindens to cover this month and my annual renewal (uh-huh). They kind of have to fix this issue.

Eloise Pasteur picked up on the billing issue, and posted Linden's not billing correctly? - where the comments indicated I am certainly not alone in these issues. Even Loki is not feeling so good.

So what has happened so far? Well, I contacted [w:Linden Lab] support - I'm a concierge user, allowing me some live chat. Yesterday I contacted them, and we tried to track down what the problem was - they were saying the error was that my 'City' didn't match. OK, we matched them - still didn't work. Today, I was supposed to call my bank and ask them about stuff - but instead, I contacted PayPal on the phone and they said there were no records of transaction attempts. For the layperson, that means,"we didn't hear anything!" They also said that my bank and credit card information were working fine.

Finding this out, I went back to concierge live chat - where everyone is helpful. We went over everything again, and came to the same result - it just plain ain't working. So they now have escalated the ticket, since it's something which has everyone scratching their chins and making humming sounds.

What I did confirm is that there are more stringent anti-fraud measures in place. They have been put up sometime after May 26th, 2007 (and, of course, we didn't hear about that).

My redux so far is that whatever rolled out between May 26th, 2007 and the present should probably be rolled back until they figure out what is wrong with it, but it is easy to say that from the outside. Still, when it affects the receiving of money... people need to be able to pay Linden Lab. And it is in Linden Lab's interest to... receive the money.

If you are having billing problems, contact support and follow up. I think that they aren't, somehow, getting the right amount of information to troubleshoot this one... and it could well be that the answer is within the community.

And I can use PayPal with SLExchange...

SLExchange accepted PayPal, no problem - and they would have to be using the Second Life Risk API.

So - unless Linden Lab changed the Risk API that they use, this problem may well be internal to Linden Lab.
