Newbie Help: Coloring Attachments, and Avoiding The Clone Look

Posted in

A few people have written some things which are helpful for people new to Second Life in the last 12 hours or so.

The video to the right is courtesy a Bitter Thorns post (offensive word used in the video, don't tell anyone) and shows how to edit attachments and change their color if they are modifiable. In video form, this is especially handy.

Caliandris Pendragon has a post explaining the basics of making clothing, with more planned to come.

Another post, How To Stop Looking Like a Newbie in Second Life, is very down to Earth - especially with all the freebies that one can get one's hands on. In fact, due to the sheer volume of freebies out there, much of the first few weeks of one's Second Life can be used up sifting through inventory. This is typically not considered 'fun'. Apparently Shynee Jewell will be posting more along those lines, and if they are of the same caliber as that post, it would be worth keeping an eye on what she writes over there.

Recommended stops for non-freebies which are decently priced (links will take you to the store inworld):

Those are only 3 that I know of - frankly, I make my own clothes these days and don't know where else to get stuff! So if you know of a place, feel free to post it in the comments - I'm thinking that a 'newbie resource page' which isn't one of the freebie-distribution-centers might be of worth. By that, I mean good stuff at affordable prices... Know any other places?
